Accurate and helpful!

After my parent's outdoor maine coon cat went missing for a few days, they feared that someone had taken him. He arrived home on day four. My parents relieved, put him on house arrest indefinitely. Everytime I'd come by he'd go to the door asking to go out. We tried a harness, but he couldn't/didn't know how to/felt awkward walking in it. I did my research, balanced the initial costs with subscription costs, and came to this device. I bought it for the cat as an early xmas gift and he's enjoying his release from house arrest. My parents love tracking him and have checked on him a couple of times. Read the instructions, make the 'green zone' as small as possible as once inside that zone, it will loose the tracking (has to do with the wifi signal). They've been using it for about a week, let him out a few times now so their cat is enjoying nature once again!

Overall super pleased with this for our needs

This product has really met our needs overall. I was worried about battery life, but we're getting at least a week or more between charges. Our usage model: Our dog is a livestock protection dog who lives with and watches our chickens, ducks, and goats and keeps them from becoming coyote food. He is free to roam on our property, we have ~20 acres of which about 7 is where he spends most of his time. We had a neighbor complain that a dog looking just like ours was spending time at their place, chasing their animals, and possibly killing her chickens. Unfortunately there is another dog in the area that looks nearly identical so that it made it hard to know if our dog was the guilty one or not and whether we needed to do anything about it.I do have a wifi access point in our shop which is pretty central to where he spends most of his time, but even then he does his rounds around the ~7acres quite a bit so I was worried that this would hurt the battery life (impacted mostly when he goes outside of the wifi and it starts using the cell network). But as mentioned above - the battery life has been very good (at least good enough for us, having to charge once a week).I was also worried about whether we had good enough cell service on AT&T since in general we don't get good AT&T cell service, but it must be good enough as that hasn't been a problem.I thought it is a little silly that you get 3 months to cancel the cell service, but than after that are committed to a year - a bit old school on the contact side, but I guess they don't want you going on and off again monthly maybe?Likes: ability to see, by day, where he has been; getting notified when he has left his area; decent battery life;Extras: assessment of scratching and licking, health aspects, calorie and step/distance counter.Negatives: though understandable, would be a little nicer if it was a little quicker notifying of a safe area departure. This is because the device when close to home isn't checking all the time, so there can be a little bit of a lag (10min?) in letting you know.Wishes: I was there was some feedback to the dog that could be aligned with the safe zone departure - like at least a beep or something that could possibly warn him he's not where he needs to be. An automatic trainer of sorts.Again - overall, after looking at a lot of different options, this one has worked very well for us.

From all trackers I have used, this one is the best!

I had concerns of my dog escaping, so I bought a tracker (another than whistle), wasn’t happy with the tracking distance, so I bought another and another. Then I took a 3200 road trip staying at various places. I was trying to be cheap and not get a subscription tracker. After seeing how useless most non-subscription trackers were after 300 yards even though they advertised 3-7 mile range I opted to get whistle and give them a try. I’m sooooo glad I did.Whistle is more than I can ask for in a tracking unit!Note: you need to be in an area with cell phone range (specification AT&T, which seems pretty much every metropolitan area) I don’t recommend this product if your WiFi extends off your property AND there isn’t cellular network in your area... essentially if you live in extreme remote areas.Other than that Whistle is the best I have tested and gives daily activity such as distance, licking, scratching, and sets goals for your led depending on breed and age. This has actually motivated me to hit their goals with them and I have slowly gotten in shape and lost weight! The whistle app is robust and tracks you dog in my opinion every 3 min and if you fur baby escapes and you hit the track feature I believe or could be wrong, tracks your baby every 30 seconds or less on an google type map. For the features and functionality and health features, the best I’ve seen. Now let’s talk battery life. I walk my babies about 30-45 min a day; with that, the whistle go explorer lasts about 3 weeks which in my opinion is amazing, just need to charge it for about 4 hours or overnight.Another nice feature is that if they escape or leave your virtual fence that you set up around your property within the map, the app will alert you by a notification through the app, or text message, or through email, or all of the above if you really want your phone to blow up when they escape.I love the product so much that I decided to buy all three of my little ones a whistle. One of the units came from and it was blemished and even though I paid the brand new price, I feel that it was used in the battery life is extremely poor and only lasted about three days, so I returned it and bought another one and luckily it appeared brand new and the battery life matched the other two, so if you buy one and the battery life only lasts a short Time, just return it and get another one or buy it directly through their website as new.Yes there is a monthly or yearly subscription but think, if your fur baby were to escape or get lost, how much would you pay at that moment to get them back immediately.I highly recommend this product, it’s worth it and you get more than what you pay for in my opinion.

Great Product

I was a little nervous after reading many reviews stated here but still decided to give it a try. I bought the Go Explore Version and I live in San Juan, PR, US. Product performs well, battery life still in 96% after 5 days of usage with plenty of walks, trips and some escapes. Accuracy is great and notifications works perfect. For now, this is a great product and works well with no issues at all. When you or your family takes the pet for a walk or a trip it automatically recognizes who have the pet and you can track it live with 15 secods refresh rate. Yes, it has a 3-minute delay for letting you know your pet escaped the safe zone but that’s how it works to minimize false alarms due to WIFI coverage or area coverage. I recommend having WIFI all over the house and patio area and you should not have any issues with false alarms, also make your safe zone a little larger than your house as instructed in manual. For now, it’s a great product and will buy for my other pets. I had an issue with the collar snap attachment; it broke . I sent an email and in a few minutes received a reply telling me they will be sending one free of charge. I received it in 2 days at my mail out of continental US. Great customer service for now.

Significant upgrade from Whistle 3

I upgraded from a Whistle 3 to a Go Explore. The main advantage for me was the much quicker refresh rate in tracking mode (15 sec for the Go Explore; I forget what it was on the older model but know it was much longer). The 20-day battery life was my other reason for trading up. Both features have worked just as advertised, and make this tracker far more useful to me. You still need to have decent cell coverage, of course, so I can’t expect it to perform well hiking up in the mountains where coverage is patchy - but everywhere else has been great.Activity data and location accuracy have been good as well. I occasionally get a point that’s way off, but the next point is right back on target. It’s interesting to see what my dog does when I’m not home (basically just sleep) and how often she gets up at night and wanders around. The extra health data is interesting too and I’m glad to have it, even if that wasn’t my primary reason for purchasing. Overall I’m very glad I upgraded and think it’s a great product.
