Automatic Pet Feeder - 4L - White

This is the first automatic cat feeder I've ever purchased and am thinking of buying a second one of these. I'm using this one to provide a way of scheduling out a series of small meals for my overweight cat during the early morning.I bought this one due to the price and the size. I didn't want any features such as cell phone monitoring.I found the programming interface a bit confusing at first. It is simple enough however which button to push when along with having to start over if you waited too long made it a bit cumbersome. The instruction booklet made it fairly clear and I really should have started with it. Lol.My first programming was to schedule two early morning feedings, 4am and 6am with one portion each so that I would not be awakened by a cat begging to be fed. It has worked great for that. I put enough dry food into the hopper for about three days as I don't want it to go stale. It seems to work with the single portion even with the food hopper floor barely covered.During the day, I normally feed both cats a couple of meals while I oversee to make sure that the overweight cat isn't sneaking more than she should. I just drop dry kibble into her bowl.My cat did have a bit of confusion about the white plastic food bowl so I replaced it with her normal circular glass bowl with the device. The food rattles out and into the bowl just fine with a portion barely covering the bottom. The single portion works great for my needs.Once my cat learned the sound of the dry food landing into the bowl, a nice crystalline tinkle, she shows up when the food drops.The hopper separates from the bottom containing the electronics so is easy to clean.

I’ve been considering a feeder for awhile and took the plunge with this one. I’m extremely happy I did. I work odd hours and wanted to keep her on a schedule so this seemed the most convenient way and it is.The system is pretty nice looking and doesn’t take up a ton of real estate. The bowl can be removed for quick cleans and it can be disassembled enough for bigger cleans. The reservoir holds a good amount for a cat or small dog. It offers a lot of feeding times and portion options and has gotten my cat onto a healthy schedule.There are a few issues with the time itself. I think the clock runs a little fast or something, so you might want to reset everything which each fill up you do. This also doesn’t happen with my cat but there might be an issue if your cat can break into things easily. There is no lock and the dispenser is big enough to get a paw into.Overall I’m happy with it and don’t regret the purchase!

You have to read the instructions to get the timings of the food and portion size down. I have two cats, I have 4 feedings and it's perfect. They haven't figured out to flip open the top which is good. This is so much better than having them self feed. My youngest was eating way too much. Now it's portion controlled. Best purchase I could have made for them. I timed one of the feedings to dinner time for us so that they can dine at the same time.4am, 11:30am, 5:15pm and midnight. The midnight is to keep them from waking me on weekends when I can sleep in, it doesn't work, they still want wet food.You won't be sorry for this purchase, it's been a life saver. I know we are going through less food now than we were before with the controlled feedings. Lifesaver. I thank my vet for this idea.This seriously is amazing. I used to free feed, my now 18 month kitten has lost weight. She needed to because she ate too much. Best purchase ever to keep them healthy. No regrets at all. Wonderful product!Seriously- if you are considering this, it’s worth it!!

I have purchased automatic feeders in the past from another well known and respected manufacturer but after my brother was impressed with his Petlibro feeder I gave one a try, but was worried that the lower cost would mean an inferior product. Now that my 4 liter feeder has been up and running for over a week I'm pleased with my decision. I was immediately impressed from the start with the presentation and packaging. I realize this doesn't make a great product, but it was a good beginning. Our cat is one that would like to be a bit over weight and I normally weigh each portion of dry food to the gram before loading into his previous carousel feeder, so I was concerned that I might not be able to adjust the Petlibro portion control appropriately. I filled the Petlibro and cycled it dozens of times to determine how many dispensed portions it would take to accurately approximate the cat’s normal daily food amount. I was able to come to within 2 grams of what I was feeding per day when I was weighing the food. I then divided the number of required dispensed portions to determine how many portions to program for each feeding (I used 4 feedings per day). I’m happy to report that both the cat and I are quite pleased with this feeder.

This may seem odd, but one of the first things I noticed as I was setting up the PETLIBRO feeder is that the power cord plug, where it plugs into the device), has a recessed region right behind it where you can stick your finger in to push the plug in. And once plugged in, the plug rotates and its cable sits right into the notch.As an engineer, this level of detail tells me that the engineers working on this product have put a lot of thought into the design. Further evidence includes the choice of silicone (or similar material) in the actual feed mechanism so that there is minimal risk of jams or other problems. There will likely be some challenges in longevity, but we're talking lasting a couple years vs. a decade or something like that. If my PETLIBRO feeder lasts even 1 year, I will have gotten more value out of it by many orders of magnitude.For our two cats, we feed them 1/8 cup. I used some trial and error (manually feeding out a portion and adding it to measuring cup) to find that 4 servings is roughly 1/8 cup. There is some expected variation so I might end up increasing the portion to 5 servings, but the great thing is that I can individually control meal portions so of 2 meals in a day, I can up one to 5 portions and leave one at 4 if I worry. Or I can make them both 5, or I can add more meals (up to 4).Another aspect of the design I appreciated - everything is easily clean-able. There are no oddly recessed nooks or crannies and the device comes apart in a reasonable way.In short, if you're looking into automatic feeders for your pet, don't hesitate with this one! Well worth the money!
