We travel from MN to Baja each year and take our 3 cats along. We've tried Tile and other non GPS trackers before and while they work fine to find a cat thats hiding in your house or pretty close by, we were always worried about one of our cats that wanders further. The Whistles was great! It notified us when she left the safety zone around our place in MX and tracked her where abouts. It was fun to see where she liked to go and also gave us an idea of where to look for her when we wanted her in, or should she somehow get it off. Thankfully the later never happened and we learned that she wasn't going as far as we thought. Great peace of mind. The only thing I would recommend is to have a smaller version for cats and to be able to ring it to help find cat in underbrush if they are hiding.
Wish I had bought a product like this before my dog got lost for 3 days in the woods!What I liked about the product:Battery life: GO Explore has the longest battery life I have found on the market. I am satisfied with the battery life of the Whistle. The Whistle needs to be connected to WiFi for the majority of time to achieve the suggested battery life. It is much shorter when on GPS only - I have found it to last just over a day, but I expect that I would find my dog before then. It allows me to keep the tracker on my dog except for a short charging time once a week.Waterproof: My dogs are swimmers. It needed to be able to get wet and still work. Both of my dogs have swum and jumped into murky bay water multiple times and have not had an issue with the Whistle working.App: I have an Android, and the app works great. I can add others as owners. The app alerts all owners when my dog leave a safe area (the house and yard) and gives estimated distance away from the house.GPS Updating: Through the app, you change how often the device updates when it is outside of the safe zone. You or other owners can also start a tracking session which updates much more frequent.Night light: This was an extra feature that I was not looking for in a tracker. During the day doesn't make any difference, it seems like a bright light at night, but haven't tested this feature much.Wellness Reports: They send this report through e-mail. It gives information about activity level, sleep, scratching, and licking. I would like it if they made it available in the app.Support: My second tracker, never worked correctly. It wouldn't sync with the app except to say the battery is fully charged. I was able to return/exchange quickly for a new one. I talked to their support but exchanged through .What I disliked about the productMonthly fee: Needed to activate and use the tracker. Roughly $8/month if you pay for the year up front for peace of mind you know where your dog is.Needs WiFi for the extended battery life. If dogs are staying away from home for an extended time without WiFi, expect to be charging the device daily.
This is absolutely the best GPS product for my dogs I have used so far! I live in the country where WiFi is poor, but my whistle works great! I am amazed at the battery life. Before I had to recharge the devices every three days, with this whistle the battery drops less than 5% a day! Amazing. I love watching my dogs reach the goals I’ve set for them as well as seeing how many miles they have run each day and where they go in our yard ( we live on an acreage). Best thing by far is being alerted when they get out of our yard able to track them. Very accurate GPS. We will always own a Whistle.
We have a 1 yr old Husky who's a runner.We have a lot of woods behind our house that separates a few neighborhoods and apparently this dog is smarter than me. She escaped a couple of times. I found this and really didn't want to spend the money but after a few escapes I ponied up the dough. A couple of weekends later she bolted and I tracked her for over 3 miles. Unfortunately I have not really hammered home the training and she doesn't come to me when called. I was able to find her a couple of times but she bolted when she saw me and I couldn't keep up. I eventually went home and had to watch as she roamed for an hour. Once I saw her come out onto a nearby street I was able to go after her and catch her in a neighborhood not too far away.
I was so excited to get my Whistle Go Explore today! I heard great things about it, it’s so cool. I’m going to give it to my daughter and her boyfriend. They just got a new puppy and they will love it!!
